Welcome to Hayls Beauty Tales — HBT for short.

I’m Hayley, the writer and creative behind the blog. I’ve spent years writing online, working with style, experimenting with beauty and developing a slightly stubborn refusal to believe that personal style should come with a rulebook.

HBT is my corner of the internet for beauty, hair, fashion and the occasional glorious detour.

Beauty Without the Rulebook

I don’t believe beauty needs to be beige, perfect or predictable.

I like colour. I like changing things up. I like products that are fun to use and clothes that actually have a personality.

Sometimes that means a brilliant lipstick.

Sometimes it’s a completely different hair colour.

Sometimes it’s discovering a beauty product that quietly becomes indispensable.

And sometimes it’s putting together an outfit that makes absolutely no sense on paper and somehow works perfectly.

That’s the kind of beauty and style you’ll find here.

What You’ll Find on HBT

Hayls Beauty Tales covers beauty, hair, fashion and personal style from an editorial rather than a rule-following perspective.

Expect product reviews, beauty discoveries, seasonal edits, hair diaries, fashion features, trend explorations and themed editorial series.

You’ll also find some of HBT’s regular and seasonal features, including Mane Day Monday, Shocktober and Glowvember.

Products don’t earn automatic praise simply because they’re popular, expensive or beautifully packaged. If I love something, I’ll tell you why. If something isn’t for me, I’ll tell you that too.

A Little About Hayley

I’m a writer, blogger and former professional stylist with a background in marketing and more than fifteen years of blogging behind me.

Beauty and fashion have been recurring characters throughout that time.

My own style has never fitted particularly neatly into one aesthetic. Music, colour, subcultures, nostalgia, changing seasons and whatever has caught my imagination that week can all find their way into it.

That’s probably why HBT isn’t interested in telling you the correct way to look.

I’m much more interested in the possibilities.

HBT is an independent publication.

The purpose of this blog is simple: to create beauty and style content worth coming back for.

Reviews reflect my genuine experience and opinion. Where a product has been gifted or content involves a commercial relationship, that relationship will be clearly disclosed.

It can’t provide my opinion.
